How to Make Milk Peda
How to Make North Indian Home-Style Milk Peda

Making Milk Peda at home is quite simple and requires just a few ingredients. Creamy, homemade Milk Peda,a traditional Indian sweet made with milk powder, condensed milk, and cardamom, is perfect for festive celebrations.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups full-fat milk powder
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • Chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
  • Saffron strands for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preparation:
  • Grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and keep it aside.
  1. Mixing Ingredients:
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, combine the milk powder, condensed milk, and milk. Mix them well until they form a smooth paste without any lumps.
  1. Cooking:
  • Place the pan over low heat and add ghee to the mixture. Stir continuously to prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  1. Cooking Continues:
  • Keep cooking the mixture, stirring continuously. After a few minutes, the mixture will start to thicken.
  1. Add Flavor:
  • Once the mixture thickens, add cardamom powder. Continue stirring.
  1. Cook Until Mixture Thickens:
  • Keep cooking until the mixture starts leaving the sides of the pan and forms a soft dough-like consistency. This should take about 8-10 minutes.
  1. Shape the Pedas:
  • Once the mixture reaches the desired consistency, remove the pan from the heat. Let it cool for a few minutes until it’s comfortable to touch but still warm.
  • Grease your hands with a little ghee and take small portions of the mixture. Roll each portion between your palms to form smooth balls, then gently flatten them to shape them into pedas.
  1. Garnish:
  • If desired, press a few chopped nuts onto the top of each peda for garnish. You can also add a saffron strand on top of each peda for decoration.
  1. Cooling:
  • Place the prepared pedas on the greased plate or tray, leaving some space between each peda. Allow them to cool completely at room temperature.
  1. Serve or Store:
    • Once cooled, your homemade Milk Pedas are ready to be served. Enjoy these delicious treats as a dessert or snack.
    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days or in the refrigerator for a longer shelf life.

These Milk Pedas have a rich, creamy taste and are sure to be a hit with your family and friends!
