Cooking North Indian-style Paneer Fried Rice at home is a delightful way to blend the flavors of Indian cuisine with a popular Chinese dish. Here’s a simple recipe to guide you through the process:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup basmati rice (preferably cooked and cooled beforehand)
  • 200 grams paneer (Indian cottage cheese), cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 capsicum (bell pepper), diced
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust according to your spice preference)
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust according to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients:
  • Cook basmati rice according to package instructions and let it cool. It’s better to use rice that has been cooked and cooled for fried rice recipes.
  • Cut paneer into small cubes and chop all vegetables as mentioned.
  1. Sauté Paneer:
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat.
  • Add paneer cubes and sauté until they turn golden brown on all sides. Remove them from the pan and set aside.
  1. Prepare Fried Rice:
  • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add finely chopped onions, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
  • Add chopped green chilies and diced capsicum. Stir-fry for a couple of minutes until capsicum is slightly tender.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and garam masala. Mix well.
  • Now, add the cooked basmati rice to the pan. Mix gently to combine all the spices with the rice.
  • Add soy sauce and tomato ketchup. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated with the sauces.
  • Season with salt according to your taste.
  • Finally, add the sautéed paneer cubes to the rice mixture. Gently fold them in to avoid breaking the paneer.
  1. Serve:
  • Garnish the Paneer Fried Rice with freshly chopped coriander leaves (optional).
  • Serve hot with raita (yogurt dip) or any Indian curry of your choice.

Enjoy your delicious North Indian-style Paneer Fried Rice! Adjust the spices and sauces according to your taste preferences.
