How to Cook Rajma Roll
How to Cook Protein-Rich Rajma Wrap(Kidney Bean)

A Rajma wrap is a delicious and nutritious dish featuring a protein-rich filling of spiced kidney beans (Rajma) wrapped in a soft whole wheat roti. This flavorful wrap combines the earthy taste of Rajma with aromatic Indian spices like cumin, turmeric, coriander, and garam masala, creating a mouthwatering filling bursting with flavor. The wrap is typically garnished with fresh coriander leaves and can be served with a side of Greek yogurt or sour cream for added creaminess. Rajma wraps are not only satisfying and flavorful but also provide a hearty dose of protein, making them a popular choice for a wholesome meal or a quick and convenient snack.v

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked Rajma (kidney beans)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Whole wheat tortillas or wraps
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Greek yogurt or sour cream (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rajma:
  • If you’re using canned kidney beans, drain and rinse them under cold water. If using dried kidney beans, soak them overnight and then cook until tender.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  • Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste and green chili (if using). Sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
  • Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the cooked kidney beans (Rajma) and mix until everything is well combined. Cook for 5-7 minutes on low heat, allowing the flavors to meld together. Mash some of the beans lightly with the back of a spoon to thicken the mixture.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  1. Assemble the Wrap:
  • Warm the whole wheat tortillas or wraps on a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds to make them pliable.
  • Spoon some of the prepared Rajma mixture onto the center of each tortilla.
  • Optionally, add a dollop of Greek yogurt or sour cream on top of the Rajma mixture.
  • Fold the sides of the tortilla towards the center and then roll it up tightly, enclosing the filling.
  • Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
  1. Serve:
  • Cut the wraps in half diagonally and serve immediately.
  • You can serve these wraps with a side of salad or a yogurt-based dip for added freshness.

Enjoy your protein-rich Rajma wraps! They’re not only delicious but also packed with nutrients.
